President Hamid reaches Uruguay
President Abdul Hamid on Friday morning (local time) reached Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay, to attend the country’s Presidential Command Transfer Ceremony slated for 1 March.
“A VVIP flight carrying the president reached at the Montevideo International Airport on Friday 9:45am (local time),” a Bangabhaban spokesman told UNB over phone.
Bangladesh ambassador to Brazil Md Julfikar Rahman received the president at the airport.
President Hamid, now on an 11-day tour to Uruguay and London, left Dhaka early Wednesday.
On his way back home from Uruguay, the president is scheduled to have some private programme in London on 5-6 March, said a foreign ministry official.
President’s spouse Rashida Khanam and secretaries concerned to the Bangabhaban are accompanying Abdul Hamid.
President Hamid is expected to return home on 7 March.
