Sonali, Janata banks get new chairmen

The government has appointed new chairmen to two state-owned banks -- Sonali Bank and Janata Bank, reports UNB.

According to a letter issued by the Financial Institution Division of the finance ministry on Wednesday, Ziaul Hasan Siddiqui, former deputy governor of Bangladesh Bank, was appointed chairman of Sonali Bank.

The letter also said Jamaluddin Ahmed, director of Bangladesh Bank and general secretary of Bangladesh Economic Association has been made the chairman of Janata Bank.

They will serve as the chairman of the two banks for the next three years, said the letter.
