Bangladesh Bank has removed One Bank chairman Sayeed Hossain Chowdhury.
Sayeed Hossain Chowdhury is also the chairman of HRC Group.
The decision has been taken on charges of defaulted loans against him.
The central bank sent a letter in this regard to the private bank on 5 June, BB executive director and spokesperson Sirajul Islam confirmed this to Prothom Alo.
Sirajul said, "He was removed from his post as a loan defaulter can’t remain in bank’s board of directors."
Sayeed would not be able to become a director of One Bank in next three years, he added.
Sayeed was elected the chairman of One Bank on 1 August, 2019. Earlier, he held the same post for several terms.
