Bapparaj has made a call to all members of the film industry to reunite for the sake of his father Razzak.
“If you really want to show respect to my father, you must stay together under the umbrella of unity. Otherwise, I’ll never show up at the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation,” Bapparaj told a remembrance programme on Saturday.
Legendary actor Abdur Razzak, popularly known as Nayak Raj Razzak, passed away on 21 August.
The Bangladesh Chalachitra Paribar organised the programme at the BFDC in memory of legendry actor Razzak.
Talking about factions in the film fraternity and actor Shakib Khan’s banning, once-popular actor Bapparaj said if the trend of banning and boycotting goes on, the industry will be destroyed.
If Shakib has made a mistake, he can be called [for discussion]. But, boycotting and banning cannot be a solution, said Bapparaj, lead actor of popular film ‘Chapadangar Bou’.
“If you don’t withdraw all cases and boycotts, I’ll never come back to the BFDC,” he added.
Bapparaj went on saying, “You always talk about Razzak and his contributions to the industry. But, he never supported factions in the industry, neither supported any division.”
The Bangladesh Chalachitra Paribar on 25 June banned Shakib over his remarks about the protesting artistes against joint-production films.
There are now virtually two factions in the industry centring joint-production films.
One group banned Shakib Khan and Jaaz Multimedia for the recently released two joint-production films - 'Nabab', and 'Boss-2'.
They claimed that 'Nabab', featuring Shakib Khan, and 'Boss-2' featuring Nusrat Faria, did not follow the country's joint-production rules.
On the other hand, another group is backing Jaaz Multimedia and Shakib Khan, considering that films like 'Nabab', 'Boss-2' can revive the lost glory of Bangladeshi cinema.
