Five films including Tauquir Ahmed directed ‘Haldaa’ and Akram Khan directed ‘Khancha’ will be screened in SAARC Film Festival 2018.
Two full-length films-'Haldaa' and 'Khancha'-have been selected from Bangladesh in ‘Feature Films’ category while noted director Morshedul Islam’s ‘Akhi O Taar Bondhura’ has been selected in the ‘Master Films’ category, reports UNB.
‘Kaalo Megher Bhelai’ and ‘Daag’ will compete in the short films category, said Monjurul Islam Megh, communication coordinator of SAARC film festival (Bangladesh).
The 8th edition of SAARC Film Festival, organised by the SAARC Cultural Centre, will be hosted in Colombo, capital of Sri Lanka, between 22 and 27 May.
The SAARC Film Awards 2018 will be presented on 27 May after being selected by a panel of jury comprising of the members from non-SAARC countries.
The prizes are: Best Feature Film, Best Short Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Cinematographer, Best Editor, Best Sound Designer, Best Original Score and two Special Jury Awards.
The festival will include a workshop with international experts as well as additional peripheral events that would enhance the experience of South Asian cinema.
The film festival will focus on films which were first screened after May 2016, from all member states.
Bangladeshi director Tauquir Ahmed’s 'Oggyatonama' won the Best Screenplay Award at the seventh edition of SAARC Film Festival last year.
