Kolkata art camp begins

A three-day art camp, featuring artists of Bangladesh and India, began on Friday on the premises of Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata, India, says a press release.

Jointly organised by Bangladesh Deputy High Commission and Bengal Foundation, the Kolkata art camp was inaugurated by cultural affairs minister Asaduzzaman Noor.

Bangladesh deputy high commissioner Jockey Ahad, renowned artist Rafiqun Nabi and Bengal Foundation chairman Abul Khair spoke at the inaugural programme.

A total of ten Bangladeshi artists along with thirteen Indian artists are taking part in the camp.

Bangladeshi artists, who are taking part in the camp, are Rafiqun Nabi, Ranjit Das, Abul Barq Alvi, Biswajit Goswami, Kalidas Karmakar, Monirul Islam, Mohammad Yunus, Mohammad Iqbal, Sheikh Afzal and Wakilur Rahman.

Participating Indian artists include Ashok Bhowmick, Amitabh Sen Gupta, Dheeraj Choudhary, Ganesh Haloi, Jogen Chowdhury, Joya Ganguly, Joyshree Chakraborty, Lalu Prasad Sau, Mahjabin Majumdar, PD Dhumal, Rini Dhumal, Sanat Kar and Shibprasad Kar.

The press release added Bengal Foundation arranged the art camp in memory of its late trustee and artist Subir Chowdhury.
