The aesthetic appeal of tradition and postmodern art has made a delightful ambience at artist Abdus Shakoor Shah’s solo exhibition ‘Muse of Myths’.

A total of 48 artworks of the artist have been put on display at the exhibition held at Bengal Gallery in Dhaka city's Dhanmondi.

The work of Shakoor Shah is inspired by terracotta, traditional stitch works of Bangladesh, rural lifestyle, and folk culture.

“I have developed my style as (Mymensingh) Geetika and simplicity are blended in my works,” the artist said at the inaugural ceremony on Friday.

Traditional tales of Bangladesh were the key features of his artworks.

French ambassador to Bangladesh Sophie Aubert and Poet Syed Shamsul Haq inaugurated the exhibition.

Abdus Shakoor Shah was born in 1946 in Bogra district. He attained a BFA degree from College of Arts and Craft (now known as Charukola Institute at Dhaka University).

The veteran artist received numerous accolades including SM Sultan Award in 2008 and Foreign Ministry Award of Japan government in 2014.
