Popy has portrayed different roles and proved her calibre as a versatile actress.
After 'Sonabandhu', she will now be seen playing Parbati from classic novel 'Debdas' for 'Kathgoray Sarat Chandra'. The film will be made based on four novels of renowned novelist Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay -- 'Grihadaha' 'Debdas' 'Shrikanta' and 'Boro Didi'.
Popy signed 'Kathgoray Sarat Chandra' on Friday. Besides this, the actress started shooting for another film 'Sahoshi Joddha' from 27 February. In a conversation with Prothom Alo, the actress talked about her ongoing projects and more.
Excerpts:
Prothom Alo: Tell us about your experiences of 'Sahoshi Joddha' shooting.
Popy: We have just finished a two-day shooting. The next phase will start from mid-March.
PA: What are the other films you are working now?
Popy: A number of films, such as 'Biye Holo Bashor Holo Na', 'Short Cut-e Borolok', 'Dui Bhai Er Juddho', 'Jibon Jantrona' and so on. The shooting of these films have been halted for several days though.
PA: What do you usually do beside works?
Popy: I don't get enough free time. I am a bit introvert. Usually, I stay at home whenever I get leisure. Besides, I don't have many friends. I don't like to hang out either.
PA: We have come to know that you will play Parbati from the novel 'Debdas'?
Popy: Yes. I signed the film 'Kathgoray Sarat Chandra' to be directed by Arifur Jaman on Friday night. Ferdous will play the role of Debdas in the film. Hopefully, the shooting will begin by the end of April.
PA: Are you excited about the role?
Popy: Certainly I am. It's like a dream-come-true project for any actress.
PA: Do you have confidence for this?
Popy: See, it's a big challenge for me. I have seen stars playing Parbati both in Dhallywood and Bollywood. I have to really work hard for this. I have to study a lot before the shooting.
PA: Do you read books and watch films regularly?
Popy: Yes, I do go through books and watch a lot of films. Humayun Ahmed and Samaresh Majumdar are my favourite authors. I watch at least one movie every night.
PA: All your contemporaries are now married. When will it happen to you?
Popy: No one can predict birth, death and marriage. I'll get married whenever I will meet a good man.
