Bangladesh for the first time ever will take part in the 68th edition of the Miss Universe to be held in South Korea in December 2019.
And, guess what, Indian actress Sushmita Sen, also Miss Universe 1994, will be one of the judges at the grand finale of the Miss Universe Bangladesh.
Rizwan Bin Farouq, chairman of Miss Universe Bangladesh, on Saturday told a press conference that Bollywood star Sushmita Sen will be present at the grand finale of the beauty pageant as one of the judges and crown the winner.
Miss Universe Bangladesh is a franchise of Miss Universe, the largest beauty pageant contest in the world, which has been running for the past 67 years.
The winner of Miss Universe Bangladesh 2019 competition will participate in the Miss Universe which will be held in South Korea from 10 December, 2019, and the grand finale will be held on 19 December, 2019.
Miss Universe Bangladesh chairman Rizwan Bin Farouq, Flora Bank managing director Mustafa Rafiqul Islam, managing partner of Miss Universe Bangladesh Sohel A Chaklader Duke, fashion designer Tootli Rahman and Rtv CEO Ashik Rahman, among others, attended the press conference.
The grand finale of Miss Universe Bangladesh will be held on 23 October, said the speakers.
"Miss Universe Bangladesh will feature some of the most beautiful, intelligent, elegant, talented and confident women of our country. The motto of Miss Universe is 'Confidently Beautiful'. It is a matter of great honour that for the first time someone from Bangladesh will represent the country in a global platform like Miss Universe," said Rizwan Bin Farouq, according to a press release.
"A total of 8,000 women from across the country have already registered themselves for participating in the contest," added Rizwan.
"It is a great honour to be a part of this prestigious event. Our main objective is to empower women and fight violence against women through Miss Universe Bangladesh platform," said Mustafa Rafiqul Islam.
The registration for Miss Universe Bangladesh will end on 14 September. Unmarried women aged between 18 and 24 will be able to participate in the competition.
Miss Universe Bangladesh will be aired on Rtv.
