Ilias Kanchan, Zayed Khan elected film artistes' association's president, secy

Ilias Kanchan and Zayed Khan were elected president and general secretary of the film artistes' association for the next two years.

Voting in the much-hyped 17th Bangladesh Film Artistes Association election was held on Friday at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) premises.

Chief election commissioner Pirzada Shahidul Harun declared the official results at 5:50 in the morning on Saturday.

A total of 365 voters out of 428 cast their votes this year. Counting of votes continued till 4:30 in the morning on Saturday.

Ilias Kanchan secured 191 votes beating Misha Sawdagor by 43 votes. Zayed bagged 176 votes and got elected beating actress Nipun who secured 163 votes.

Among the other posts, Dipjol and Rubel have been elected the vice presidents. Symon Sadik won in assistant general secretary post, actress Shahnoor became organising secretary while Mamnun Emon was elected culture and sports secretary post.

Joy Chowdhury became international affairs secretary while Arman won office and publicity secretary posts.

Anjana, Rozina, Aruna Biswas, Sucharita, Ali Raj, Moushumi and Chunnu from the Misha-Zayed Panel, and Ferdous, Keya, Jasmine and Amit Hasan from the Ilias-Nipun panel won as executive members.
