Prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday handed over a cheque of Tk 3 million to film actress Anwara Begum as financial assistance.
The prime minister provided the financial assistance to the renowned film actress at her official Ganobhaban residence. Rumana Islam Mukti, daughter of Anwara Begum, was present.
A few days back, a news report published in a newspaper drawing the prime minister's attention which stated that Anwara Begum does not want assistance, rather wants her due money back for the treatment of her ailing husband for which she has been going from door to door.
After going through the news item, Sheikh Hasina directed her personal assistant to contact the actress.
Anwara Begum, popularly known as Anwara, acted in more than 600 movies as of 2015.
Anwara started her career through theatre in 1964. She first appeared on screen in the film Ajaan. But, she came to the limelight in 1967 acting in the film 'Nawab Sirajuddaula; with her Aleya role.
