‘Hasina: A Daughter’s Tale’, a full-length docudrama, based on the life of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, is now releasing on the OTT platform Chorki.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina herself has shared the experience of her life in exile and homecoming in the docudrama. The focal theme of this docudrama is Sheikh Hasina, as the daughter of Bangabandhu and not as the Prime Minister.
The docudrama also features different stories from the personal life of Bangabandhu’s daughter. It tells the tale of the terrible times of 1975, when Sheikh Hasina’s father, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and most of her family members were brutally murdered.
The history of how did Sheikh Hasina survive after 1975, is indeed unknown to many. This docudrama has brought that unknown history before everyone. Considering this docudrama’s association with 15 August of 1975, it’s being released on Chorki today, on the National Mourning Day.
‘Hasina: A Daughter’s Tale’ has been co-produced by Centre for Research and Information (CRI) and Apple Box Films. Radwan Mujib Siddiq and Nasrul Hamid Bipu were the producers while Piplu R Khan of Apple Box Films was the director.
The docudrama was first screened in selected cinema halls across the country on 16 November, 2018. The docudrama was a box office success for the next two weeks of its release.
‘Hasina: A Daughter's Tale’ has been screened and acclaimed at several international film festivals. Considering the audience demand, the docudrama was later released on television also. Following that, it’s now being released on the OTT platform Chorki.
Reflecting on the thought behind the production of the docudrama, its director Piplu R Khan said, “The docudrama highlights various aspects of the personal, family and political life of Sheikh Hasina including her struggle for survival, starting from her kitchen to serving as the head of state.”
“Along with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her younger sister Sheikh Rehana’s life has also been featured in this docudrama. I just tried to present the truth on screen through this docudrama,” he continued.
