Beating hosts Nepal by 44 runs on Saturday at Kirtipur, Bangladesh Men’s Cricket Team (U-23) marched to the final of the 13th South Asian Games (SA Games), reports UNB.
Bangladesh will take on Sri Lanka (U-23) in the final on 9 December at the same venue.
Nepal won the toss and sent Bangladesh to bat first. Najmul Hossain-led Bangladesh team scored 155 for six in 20 overs riding on the fifties of Shanto and Afif Hossain.
Shanto scored 75 off 60 balls with four fours and as many as sixes while Afif posted 52 off 28 with six fours and one six.
Mohammad Naim and Soumya Sarkar failed to impress in this game as both of them were dismissed at six. Along with them, Saif Hassan was also underperforming against Nepal as he disappointed to score anything on Saturday.
The former Nepal captain Paras Khadka bagged three wickets conceding 15 runs in four overs while Dipendra Singh took two wickets.
In reply, Nepal tumbled for 111 for nine in 20 overs with the best score of 43 by the captain Gyanendra Malla. Along with him, Dipendra and Abinash Bohara scored 16 and 13 respectively, but their efforts weren’t enough for Nepal.
All of Sumon Khan, Tanvir Islam, Soumya and Mehedi Hasan bagged two wickets.
Earlier, Bangladesh beat Maldives and Bhutan. In the next match before the final, Bangladesh will face Sri Lanka in their last league-phase game.
