
A young female footballer of Kalsindur village in Mymensingh passed away after suffering from fever for three days.
The teenage footballer, Sabina Khatun, breathed her last on Tuesday around 3:00pm in Dhobaura Upazila Health Complex, said acting head teacher of Kalsindur Government Primary School, Maliha Rani Sarkar.
She told Prothom Alo that Sabina had been suffering from fever since Sunday.
The promising footballer was taken to the Upazila Health Complex when her health started deteriorating today, Tuesday, in the noon, but she could not win her battle against fever, Maliha Rani Sarkar added.
The promising footballer was a ninth grader in Kalsindur School and College.
Kalsindur, a remote village of Mymensingh district, came in the limelight after some ten girls of the village showcased excellent football skills at home and abroad.
Sabina Khatun wanted to become a great footballer, like her playmates in Kalsindur.
She was a footballer of under-14 and under-16 Bangladesh female football teams.
She was included in the preliminary camp of AFC U-16 Women’s Championship in Thailand. She showed her excellence in the Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Gold Cup Primary School Football Championship in 2013.
The footballer used to receive a scholarship of Tk 1,000 by Prothom Alo every month.
