Head leads Australia with an emphatic victory

After losing the toss Indian captain Rohit Sharma started with a bang but Travis Head held one of the finest catches in World Cup history to remove him. Australians showed incredible discipline in bowling and fielding to choke Indians. Kohli dismissed just after scoring 50, Rahul stayed in the wicket for a long time to score one of the slowest half centuries in the tournament. But India lost wickets in regular intervals and were all out for 240 in the last ball. In reply, they lost three quick wickets despite having a brisk start as the score was 47-3 after 7 overs. But Head, who opened the batting, continuing his attack scoring runs quickly and got a great support from Marnus Labuschagne. He ultimately got out for 137 as the partnership knitted 192, Australia were just two runs away. Maxwell took those in the first ball he faced. Nine consecutive wins and trophy for Australia.

Australia captain Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to field first against undefeated India in the World Cup final to be played in front of 130,000 fans in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

Both teams remain unchanged for the clash at the world's biggest cricket stadium where Australia, playing in an eighth final, look for a sixth title.

India won the World Cup in 1983 and then again on home soil in 2011
