Bangladesh thrashed Sri Lanka by 12-0 goals to set final clash with India in the SAFF U-19 Women's Championship held Sunday at Birshreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the city's Kamalapur.
The final between the two teams will be held on Wednesday (Dec 22) at the same venue at 6:00pm. It was the biggest margin of victory for Bangladesh in the ongoing championship after they blanked 6-0 goals to Bhutan.
In the proceeding, Shaheda Akter Ripa and Afeida Khandaker scored brilliant hat-trick with three goals each and Ritu Porna Chakma supported them with two goals while Swapna Rani, Anuching Mogini, Unooti Khatun and Akhi Khatun netted one goal each for Bangladesh in the one sided affairs.
The day's win saw, Bangladesh moved top of the table with ten points from four matches while all-losers Sri Lanka yet to open their account playing the same number of outings.
In the day's match, Ritu Porna Chakma, Anuching Mogini, Shaheda Akter Ripa after leading the first half by 4-0 goals. Bangladesh, earlier in their opening match, shared point with Nepal playing to a goalless draw, thrashed Bhutan by 6-0 goals and managed a solitary goal victory over India.
While Sri lost 0-5 to Bhutan, again suffered 0-5 to India and went down 0-6 to Bangladesh. Earlier, in the day's first match held at the same venue, Priyangka Devi scored a late goal as India U-19 women's football team beat Nepal by a solitary goal to reach the final of the championship.
At the end of first 45 minutes with the score line read goalless, it was Priyangka Devi who made all the difference scoring the decisive goal for India in the 67th minute of the match.
Earlier, India thrashed Sri Lanka by 5-0 goals in their opening match blanked Bhutan by 3-0 goals but lost to host Bangladesh by a solitary goal while Nepal in their first match, split point with Bangladesh playing out to a goalless draw, thrashed Sri Lanka by 6-0 goals and drubbed Bhutan by 4-0 goals.
