The bat Shakib Al Hasan played with to hit two centuries and three fifties during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 was sold for Tk 2 million in an online auction to raise funds to fight COVID-19 on Wednesday.

Shakib was the third highest run scorer in the World Cup held in England, amassing 606 runs in just eight games.

A Bangladesh-born US resident named Raj bid the highest at the online bidding. The money will go to Shakib Foundation for its fight against the novel coronavirus.

Shakib's decision to auction this bat came following Mushfiqur Rahim’s declaration to auction his bat that he played with to score Bangladesh's first ever Test double century.
