'Send SWAT, time is running out'
The suspected militants have unusally responded to the police call from their hideout in Shibbari area under South Surma police station in Sylhet city, said police.
In response to the repeated police calls to them for surrender aound 1:15pm, one of the male suspects shouted, “Send force”.
However, this version could not be verified independently.
Police used hand-mike to communicate with the suspects. A police man called, “You have been encircled (by police), surrender peacefully.”
Calling upon a female militant suspect, it was announced, “Morzina Begum, can you hear me? Please, get out and surrender. You will face no problem.”
At 1:48pm, a woman was said to have shouted from the suspected hideout, “We are in the way of Allah. Send SWAT early. Why this delay? Time is running out.”
Police announced a phone number through hand-mike and asked to respond if they are interested to surrender to the police.
Law enforcement have cordoned off the suspected hideout, Assia Mahal, since 2:30am on Friday.
