The fire service received news of the fire around 2:00 am on Thursday. The fire was still ablaze around 6:30 in the morning today. Smoke was billowing out of the eastern wing of Secretariat building no. 7 in the morning. However, there was a fire still burning in the middle section.

Nineteen fire service units worked to douse the flames.

Police, Army and BGB members were present at the scene. While extinguishing the fire, a fireman was run over by a truck. Smoke spread throughout the Secretariat area after the building caught fire. The fire spread out to different parts of the Secretariat building no. 7.
